There are land-yachting schools at both Soulac and Montalivet. I recommend Soulac because they go on the beach - great fun.
Nature watching
We have seen Coypu, tree frogs, toads, foxes, deer, hedgehogs, snakes, praying mantises, toadstools, mushrooms and more stars than you can shake a stick at and we are not even experts!
Bird watching
We have seen woodpeckers, owls, marsh harriers, buzzards, hoopoes, heron, amongst the more common birds.
Walking
There are walking trails for those who would like a slower pace and better nature watching opportunities.
Wine tasting
The nearest wine producer is about 8 miles away to the south. There are thousands of them in the region including all the well known Medoc wines and Rosthchild.
Dining Out
There is every eating out opportunity from snack bar to a la carte
restaurants, chinese to morrocan.
Fishing
You can fish in the estuary or off the beach as well as coarse fishing
in the irrigation canals and rivers.
Golf
There is a golf course at Lacenau (¾ hours drive). The famous PGA Tour Golf du Medoc course is an hours drive to the south, just this side of Bordeaux. Planning permission has been granted recently for an 18 hole course at Grayan, just 3 miles away. Watch this space!
